World Malaria Day 2024 Message From Ag. Executive Director, PAMCA

Dear friends and partners of PAMCA,

On April 25th, 2024, PAMCA joins the global health community in commemorating this year’s World Malaria Day under the theme “Health Equity, Gender and Human Rights”, to underscore the collective commitment to an equitable malaria-free world.

According to the 2023 WHO´s World Malaria Report, climate change is one of many threats to the global response to malaria. Millions of people continue to be deprived of key health services they need to prevent, detect, and treat the disease. Climate change and its direct consequences (droughts and floods), in addition to conflicts and humanitarian crises, resource constraints, and biological challenges such as drug and insecticide resistances, also continue to hamper progress. But over the years, we have also seen the increasing impact of climate change on vulnerable groups (women, displaced people, and poor communities).  As human beings, we all have the SAME right to equitable health services, and no one should be treated less favourably because of their gender or situation of vulnerability. PAMCA is committed to working proactively with all its partners across the continent and the world to promote women's leadership and equitable access of everyone to the best healthcare services and solutions available.

As we celebrate World Malaria Day, I would like to call on the international community to join hands to make our vision of a malaria-free world a reality, while ensuring health and gender equality for all human beings. On behalf of PAMCA, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our communities, donors, partners, malaria advocates and all those on the front line who support our programs to build resilience against malaria for all, regardless of gender and/or socio-economic status. We look forward to continuing this journey together, as we celebrate this important day.
