Dynamics of malaria vector composition andโ€ฏPlasmodium falciparumโ€ฏinfection in mainland Tanzania: 2017โ€“2021 data from the national malaria vector entomological surveillance

Brief: In 2015, Tanzania National Malaria Control Programme (NMCP) established a longitudinal malaria vector entomological surveillance (MVES). The MVES is aimed at a periodical assessment of malaria vector composition and abundance, feeding and resting behaviours, andโ€ฏPlasmodium falciparumโ€ฏinfection in different malaria epidemiological strata to guide the NMCP on the deployment of appropriate malaria vector interventions. 

 

For the first time, on January 19, 2024, NMCP in collaboration with Dr.Chaki Prosper (Executive Director, PAMCA) & Dr. Samson Kiware (Program Manager, Research and Knowledge Management, PAMCA) and several research institutions in Tanzania published in theโ€ฏMalaria Journal the findings of the MVES program with national data ranging from 2017-2021.
